I believe that you should have the right to choose how you wish to labor/deliver. This could mean a hospital setting with epidurals to home births with little or no interventions. I am completely comfortable with supporting you in any and all situations. I will give you evidenced based information about your choices so you can make an informed decision about your health care. Once that decision has been made, I will support you and help you attain that.
I have supported moms where I was the only person in the room to situations where there were many family and friends in the delivery room. I have assisted women in both the hospital setting with an OB and a MW to a homebirths with midwives.
My role is to complement and enhance the experience for everyone, including the father (or other support members), by giving you suggestions and my professional expertise. I am trained in labor positions to obtain the optimal fetal position for an easier delivery as well as pain management techniques for you to use.
I bring "goodies" with me to births. This could include, but is not limited to, a birth ball, massager's, hot/cold compresses, aromas, knowledge, and most importantly my heart and hands for you. I am a very intuitive person and I can "read" a mother and what her needs are, allowing her to conserve energy.
I will visit you in the comfort of your own home. If you prefer, our initial meeting can be at a "neutral" place (IE: a restaurant, library etc). My services include 2-3 prenatal visits. I also offer supplemental information to your childbirth classes on an informal basis. If you choose to breast feed, I will help you get started right after your babies birth. A few weeks after the birth, I will come to your home so we can discuss your birth and "debrief". As well as to ADMIRE the baby!
I will supply you with a "super bill" as there have been some insurances that have covered doula services as well as some "cafeteria" plans. There is a sliding scale for families who desire a doula but can not afford the full amount. That will be discussed on an individual basis during our consultation. I truly believe that every woman deserves a doula! The flat fee for my doula package is $500 within Colorado Springs. For south Denver and Pueblo add $75 View my "Letter of Agreement" here.
I have an arrangement with Desirre Andrews CD, CLD, CCCE - a local Childbirth Educator- to make a package deal for your savings and convenience. The complete package for my customized doula services and her 6- week Fun and Informative class is only $625!!
Also, if you are a wife of a military man serving in the war, you may qualify for free doula services. Visit Operation Special Delivery for more information and to apply for doula services.
*This is based on the flat rate option plan with group classes. Private childbirth classes and doula services is $665. Prices are for Colorado Springs residents delivering at local hospitals or in their home.
